Finance teams

Explain the variance before the CFO asks.

Budget vs actual on one live canvas, with the variance already split into the drivers that caused it.

The meeting you know too well

Month-end review. Revenue came in $600K over budget, and the slide says so in large green type. The CFO nods, then asks how much of that was price.

You know the answer is in the workbook. It is on the tab called Bridge_v3_FINAL, built from a pivot that someone refreshed on Tuesday. You say you will follow up.

The follow-up takes most of Thursday, because the price and volume split has to be rebuilt from the latest export, and the deck has to be updated to match. By Friday the CFO has a new question.

Example: a $600K favourable variance, split into price, volume and mix.

What finance teams build in FlowProofs

01

A revenue bridge that rebuilds itself

Upload the budget and the actuals, write price, volume and mix as formulas once, and draw the bridge. Next month you replace the file and every bar moves on its own.

02

Budget vs actual by cost line

One shape per cost line, each showing actual, budget and the gap. Filter the whole canvas by department or region and every line recalculates.

03

Month-on-month with snapshots

Take a snapshot at close. Next month the why panel shows which input moved each number, and by how much, against that snapshot.

Questions

Can FlowProofs split a variance into price, volume and mix?

Yes, as formulas you write. Price variance is (actual price minus budget price) times actual units, and so on. You write each one once on the canvas, and the bridge recalculates whenever the data changes.

Does it connect to our ERP or accounting system?

QuickBooks Online connects directly. For SAP, NetSuite, Xero and other systems, export to CSV or Excel and upload the file, or put the export in Google Sheets and connect that.

Is this a replacement for our FP&A software?

No. FlowProofs does not do driver-based forecasting, consolidation or workflow approvals. It is for explaining numbers you already have, in the meeting where someone questions them.

Can the CFO open it without an account?

Yes. Share a read-only link. Viewers never need an account or a paid seat, on any plan. You can add a password and an expiry date to the link.
